Without the benefit of their state’s strict new immigration law, Arizona officers from Maricopa County helped deport more than 26,000 immigrants from the U.S. through a federal-local partnership that has been roundly criticized as fraught with problems. I’m a fan of Sheriff Joe. He is a go-getter. He doesn’t mince words or waste time. He takes his job seriously and gets the job done. If we had politicians in office with his tenacity we’d have far fewer problems and less “double tongued, yes men.”

I do not have anything at all against immigrants. My family are Italian immigrants. But they came here legally. They didn’t sneak across the border and get on welfare. They followed the rules of the land. They got jobs and an education. They learned the language. They didn’t whine and complain–they got productive. They appreciated the land of opportunity and gave back.

The point that most people miss is that they are not called “illegal immigrants” for no reason. Does “illegal” ring any bells?
