Why Can’t We All Get Along?

Chapter 11 – Getting Along with Journalists

  • Press interviews, news conferences, and media tours are excellent opportunities to build working relationships between journalists and public relations professionals.
  • When a journalist requests an interview, interview him first to determine who is the most qualified person to respond to the journalists interview.
  • Never say: “No Comment” or “Off the Record” – instead offer an explanation as to why the question cannot be answered at that moment and assume that anything you say will appear in print or be broadcast.
