Writing for Radio and TV

Chapter 9

Successful radio & TV stories:

  • Stories get airtime because they are about issues that matter to the majority of listeners or viewers.
  • Emphasize local news. National releases should be relevant to local audiences.
  • Humanize. Show how real people are involved or affected. People relate to people and animals.
  • Successful stories provide compelling soundbites or video footage.
