Christmas letter from God

by Linda Silfies

Did you know that today is My birthday?  Yes, I left the streets lined with gold and my Father—My home in heaven, to be born of a virgin on this day.   It was the only way I could save you.  I love you so much that I could not bear the thought that you would someday die and suffer eternal punishment.  You see, We, my Father, The Holy Spirit and Me, created a beautiful paradise where Adam and Eve would live.  They enjoyed beautiful gardens, fruit trees, fresh vegetables, a stress-free life where everything was provided for them and they did not have to work. There were no time pressures.  It was so awesome.  The weather was gorgeous—never hot, never cold, like, well, paradise. They were destined to live forever, worry-free. I would come to talk to them each day.  We had wonderful times together.   I gave them only one rule: not to eat from the tree in the center of the garden, the one called the knowledge of good and evil. I told them if they disobeyed Me, they would surely die.

Well, you know the story; Satan came along one day and tempted Eve to eat the fruit of that tree.  She fell for his tricks and ate it and then gave it to Adam to eat also.  Because of their disobedience, called sin, everyone born into their family through all generations inherited their sin nature, and their punishment, even to this day.   My Father is a loving and good God, but He could not look the other way at their sin.  Like a father disciplines his children, so He also had to discipline them.   They were banished from the garden. The fellowship We once shared with Adam and Eve, became strained. From that day forward they had to work for their food. Strife, sin, sickness death, punishment and a host of other bad things entered the picture. Oh, it was awful.    It broke Our hearts.

We knew the only way to help mankind was for Me to leave my wonderful, comfortable, precious home in heaven, to come into the world as a human—a perfect human—a sinless human.  Through Adam everyone became guilty of sin, but now through Me, Jesus, everyone is set free again because I did for them and for you what y’all could not do for yourselves—perfectly obey My Father, God.  I took God’s anger and punishment against mankind when I willingly died on the cross for your sins—all your sins—everything you did yesterday, today and everything you will do in the future—all of it; it is all paid for by Me.  I took the beatings and the torture and the shame because I love you, and because it was the only way I could redeem you and give you back a chance for an abundant life, a blessed life and an eternal home in paradise.  There is only one catch—you must believe on Me.  You must believe I, Jesus, am the Messiah, God in the flesh, your Savior—the one who was born to die for you to be set free from sure death and eternal punishment. If you believe and accept what I have done for you, invite Me into your life.  I will come in.  You have my Word.

Well, now you know the true meaning of Christmas—God loves you! Merry Christmas.
